This month, we had the opportunity to “sit down” with Aldo to learn why he chose CrossFit as his fitness regimen, what inspires him and keeps him motivated, and how CrossFit has changed his life both inside and outside the gym.

Keep reading to find out what he had to say about CrossFit Artifact, and CrossFit as a whole!

What initially made you decide to try CrossFit?

As I get older, I’ve realized the significance of health and fitness in my life and my career. CrossFit Artifact checked all the boxes for becoming an improved version of myself.

Was CrossFit what you expected it to be? Why or why not?

Yes, CrossFit is a new challenge, level of fitness, and personal goal every day. I compete against myself, which is exactly what I thought CrossFit was all about.

What attracted you to our gym?

I was attracted by the competitive environment, quality layout, equipment, professional instruction, and the challenge to become healthier, and an example to others.

Did you have any concerns or fears when you arrived for your first class? If so, how did you feel about it afterward?

Yes, I was a little apprehensive about my first class, however, my son encouraged me. I was amazed at how welcoming and supportive the staff and members were. I immediately felt like a member of the CrossFit Artifact family.

What were you looking for in a gym? Do you feel like you’ve found what you were looking for?

I was looking for a gym that would inspire me to improve myself and become healthier. I absolutely found that and more at CrossFit Artifact!

What one thing do you find most challenging about staying committed? What are somme ways that you stay motivated?

The most challenging things to me are my ability to work out while working around my difficult schedule. I stay motivated by my family and the CrossFit Artifact family. The personal goals and the desire to improve my quality of life is another motivator.

What were your primary goals when you first started versus now?

My primary goals when I started were to push and challenge myself. Currently at 57 years old, I have the desire to challenge myself to become a better version of myself and to be in the best shape of my life.

Speaking of goals, what goal are you most proud of achieving? Do you have any goals you’re working toward this year?

I am most proud of my improvement in total strength and cardio fitness. I am amazed with the improvements I’ve made my overcoming mental and physical hurdles. I am excited about pushing my mind and body to new levels of fitness and health.

Did you try anything in the past to achieve your goals that didn’t work?

Yes, I’ve tried lifting weights and running, however, I would stop because of scheduling issues or lack of inspiration.

Did you have a specific moment or event outside of the gym where you recognized that you had made progess?

Yes, I have increased energy and cardio fitness outside the gym. I was in a situation where I was required to run a long distance to help individuals. I started running and without realizing, I had completed a long run and a critical task without being winded.

What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Artifact?

My favorite things about CrossFit Artifact are the people and how they inspire and support you to become better. It is a true family and they care about each other.

What is your favorite lift?

My favorite lift is probably the deadlift. I have made big improvements with the expert training and instruction of the professional staff.

What was the most rewarding moment you’ve experienced at the gym?

My most rewarding moment was at the completion of my first class and identifying my desire to come to the next class. I never thought I would become so driven.

What would you tell someone who was considering trying CrossFit but was nervous?

I would encourage them to give it a try. I am 57 years old and found inspiration and drive from the great people at CrossFit Artifact! You will likely find a path to mental and physical health.
