Tiffany has been a member at CrossFit Artifact for a little over five weeks, but she’s made so much progress and is such an integral part of our community.
We were able to “sit down” with Tiff for a little Q&A. From what made her take the plunge and sign up for her first CrossFit class, to what keeps her coming back for more each day, read on to see what she had to say!
Why do you do CrossFit?
“I started CrossFit to get into better shape for long term health. It didn’t take long (one class) to get hooked! I have learned the huge benefit of this type of functional training and it has provided a healthy outlet for stress relief.”
Why do you do CrossFit at our gym?
“At first it was location…location…location. The gym is close to home, but honestly so are other gyms and I never felt 100% comfortable there. Micah is extremely knowledgable and dedicated to help you achieve your goals. Micah and Rachel have taken the time to get to know me and my goals, and they coach the individual while still pushing you to be your best. The members here have become like family, and class is definitely a highlight of my day!”
What were you most afraid of when you first joined our gym?
“Truth be told, I had in my mind that CrossFit people were crazy! I was honestly afraid of feeling stupid. I was an athlete in my youth, but was out of shape coming into class. I didn’t want to admit how out of shape I really was. These fears literally left before the class even started. Everyone was so welcoming, kind, helpful, and encouraging. I’ve never experienced that at another gym…ever!”
What were you looking for in a gym?
” I wanted a place that made me feel comfortable and helped me improve my fitness. I’ve always felt lost walking into other gyms. I never knew how to use half the equipment and felt alone. I needed guidance and goals. I also needed someone to know my name, pick me up when I felt discouraged, and push me for that 1% more.”
What one thing got you to take the initial leap and sign up?
“One class…legit hooked!”
What were your primary goals when you first started?
“I wanted definition in my body, to feel stronger, and to gain self-confidence.”
What was your biggest challenge keeping you from achieving those goals?
“Myself.”
Did you try anything in the past to achieve your goals that didn’t work?
“I tried many things, but I would always get bored. Without the ongoing support, I would quit. I’d always seem to be going through the motions, but never had good direction or a game plan for my fitness. That led to a lack of commitment.”
What are your goals now?
“My goals are mostly still the same, but now I actually believe I can achieve them! I can add that I want to RX the WOD (Workout Of the Day) one of these days…coming soon!”
What is your favorite thing about CrossFit Artifact?
“100% the people – top notch coaches and amazing members that all encourage each other!”
What is your favorite lift OR what has been your favorite workout?
“Burpees…NOT! I actually really like thrusters and power snatches.”
What was the most rewarding moment you’ve experienced at our gym?
“Don’t get me wrong…PR’s are awesome and one of these days I will RX the entire workout. However, each day I walk in having convinced myself that I will never finish the WOD. Amazingly, I make it through, and THAT is the best reward. It makes me believe in myself just a little more each time!”
