The 2023 CrossFit Open has officially come to a close.

What a year it was! We had such great participation from so many of our athletes.

Several of you completed the Open for the first time and were shocked at how well you were able to perform.

For others, this was their second, third, fourth, or more year participating.

Some athletes were able to complete all three Open workouts RX for the first time. Others were able to accomplish completing the workouts scaled for the first time. There were PRs all around and the excitement each week was palpable!

For three Fridays, from February 17th through March 3rd, we got together for Friday Night Lights.

After a whiteboard brief where we went over all of the standards for that week’s workout movements, then workout heats began with several athletes jumping in to judge their fellow competitors.

The energy on the gym floor was high for hours as each group of athletes took the “stage” to try their hand at 23.1, 23.2, and 23.3.

The gym was divided into three teams with our team captains, Coach Rachel Thompson, Coach Cameron Grace, and Coach Rachel Price.

In addition to earning points for your team by completing the workout, athletes were also able to gain additional points for hitting a PR (personal record) during a workout, posting pictures to social media, bringing a friend to Friday Night Lights, and participating in the theme for the week.

Twenty-three point three’s theme was eXtReMe MiSmAtCh, and our athletes nailed the look!

There aren’t enough words to describe the experience of watching people hit goals they never thought possible.

There’s something almost magical about Open Season. Did you feel it, too?

The best part about the energy of the Open is that it doesn’t have to end with the conclusion of this year’s season.

While Friday Night Lights are complete for the time being, the energy, camaraderie, and sportsmanship is still very much alive in the gym with each and every class.

For several, the Open reignited the passion within to get even 1% better each day.

That’s what CrossFit is all about.

Let’s keep moving forward together, both for next year’s Open season, as well as the daily improvements we’re each striving for.
